  • Pack a first-aid kit with bandages, dressings, pads, gloves, pain reliever and other necessities. If you are injured while hiking or camping in a remote area, it could be a while before you can reach a hospital.
  • Make sure to bring plenty of facemasks. You never know when you might end up close to strangers.
  • Get plenty of sleep before you head out onto the road. Driving while sleepy can dull your reflexes and your judgment, possibly leading to a car accident.
  • Plan ahead. Reserve your campsite, hotel room or home rental as soon as you can. Many state and national parks are limiting capacity. You don’t want to plan a road trip to a park only to be turned away at the gate.
  • If you are staying at a hotel for several nights, consider bringing your own towels and linens. As a precaution, many hotels have halted housekeeping services during guests’ stays. You could run out of clean towels.
  • Don’t forget to use sunscreen if you are going to be spending a lot of time enjoying outdoor activities.

Some of these tips are specific to our current times, while others always apply.
